How fast is it?
Up to thirty-six times faster
than dial-up networking and connected 24 hours a day.
What happens if I exceed my upload or download limits?
We never disconnect you but once you reach the limits of your
service plan we reduce the speed of your connection by half. If you
keep downloading we reduce the speed again and so on. If you stop
downloading , the speed returns to normal and you can start again. You

Is it dangerous to have my PC connected to the Internet all the
time?
Whenever you are connected to the Internet your PC is vulnerable to
attacks from hackers. It is essential that you install up-to-date
firewall and anti-spam software to your PC however you are
connected. For extra peace of mind and increased performance we
recommend the GuardianBox which connects
literally between the Internet and your PC or network.
What equipment is provided?
Our engineers install a
89cm or 1.2m satellite dish, a satellite modem and run wires into the network port on the back
of your computer. If you don't have a network port our engineers can
install one for you for a small extra charge.
Do I need a concrete base?
Our engineers can fit the dish to any suitable flat concrete roof or
base that is available. If you do not have a suitable base or a
special bracket is required an extra charge will be applicable.
We'll be happy to visit your home or office and provide a firm
quotation for installation.
What does it cost?
There is a one-off charge
for the hardware from CYŁ850 plus VAT. Thereafter you
can choose from our monthly subscription plans starting from CYŁ59
plus VAT. The nominal installation charge might be
more if specialised work, extended cabling, etc. is required.
Can I share the connection with my neighbors?
We provide a LAN
connection which can be connected to any number of computers or shared with neighbors.
However, connection and support of additional users is your
responsibility.
Do I have to sign up for a minimum period?
The minimum period is just
one year. If you only have a holiday home here you can switch the
connection off while you are away and we will reconnect it on your
return although a small service charge is payable for reconnection.
The daily cost is 1/20th of the appropriate monthly service plan
charge plus VAT.
Do I need a telephone line?
No, there is no need for a
‘phone line.
Can I get a telephone line?
Yes, we can provide a
telephone line with your broadband Internet connection that can be
wired into your house just like any other ‘phone.
Can I use VPN?
Yes, you can use VPN (Virtual Private Networking) with our system
but it is not supported on our Home Surfer service. Our Small Office
service supports the technology but will tend to be slow due to the
way our systems operate. You can get software from V-one (www.v-one.com)
